1.2 APPLICATION.

Mineral wool fibre board, coated or uncoated, used to prevent the passage of fire between compartmental walls and floors.

2. COMPOSITION / INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS.

2.1 CHEMICAL DESCRIPTION.

The fire board consists of a mineral fibre slab coated with Flexi-Coat sealant.
Refer to separate Flexi-Coat MSDS (PDF) for details of sealant.

3. HAZARD IDENTIFICATION.

Mineral wool is classified as irritating to skin. The irritation is mechanical and temporary.

High dust levels from cut product may irritate the eyes and the upper respiratory tract.

The resin binder poses no known hazard in its cured state.

4. FIRST AID MEASURES.

4.1 EYE CONTACT.

Symptoms: Irritation and redness.

Bathe the eye with running water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention.

4.2 SKIN CONTACT.

Symptoms: Irritation at the site of contact.

Wash immediately with soap and water. If irritation persists consult medical advice.

4.3 INGESTION.

Symptoms: Irritation to the throat.

Wash out mouth with water, do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice

4.4 INHALATION.

Symptoms: There may be irritation of the throat with a feeling of tightness in the chest.

Remove to fresh air. Seek medical advice.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES.

5.1 EXTINGUISHING MEDIA.

No fire or explosive hazard. No restriction on fire fighting media.

Wear suitable protective clothing. Minimise dust creation and ensure adequate ventilation.

Avoid inhalation of dust or wool fibres use local exhaust ventilation if possible.

Avoid contact with eyes or skin.

Cut the product using sharp hand tool, avoid power tools.

11.1 SHORT TERM EFFECTS.

Irritating to eyes, skin and respiratory tract. Effects are short lived and have no acute toxicity.

Not classified as a carcinogen under the EU Dangerous Substances Directive 67/548/EEC and Directive 97/69/EC.

No link between exposure to mineral wool fibres and lung disease in production or user industries.
