Intumescent Cable Basket Sleeve

Trade Names: ASTRO CB SLEEVE

Introduction

The purpose of this document is to give guidance to approved contractors and suppliers who are engaged in the fire stopping of service penetrations in fire rated structures using the Astro CB Cable Basket Sleeve

All service holes through ceilings must be fire stopped to prevent the passage of fire, smoke and hot gases.

Prevent the spread of fire, smoke and hot gases through a building by containing it in the compartment of origin.

Maintain the integrity of escape routes from a building.

Reduce loss or damage to property from the effect of fire and smoke.

Maintain pressure differential between compartments and ventilation channels.

The ASTRO CB Cable Basket Sleeve

The ASTROflame range of ASTRO CB Cable Basket Sleeves are intended for use where a cable basket passes through a fire rated wall or floor. The sleeve reinstates the fire rating of the wall or floor which would otherwise be lost.

In the event of a fire, the advanced ASTRO CB Cable Basket Sleeve will expand with the heat, closing off any holes or gaps to the fire for at least 2 hours. The Fire Cable Basket Sleeves are available to fit all cable basket sizes

Installation

Step 1 Slit the sleeve along its length to allow easy installation around cable basket
Step 2 Fit sleeve around basket and re-seal with aluminum repair tape supplied
Step 3 Once cables have been installed they should be tightly sealed with the cable basket. Infill material is available separately in the size of 20mm x 180mm x 1000mm.
Step 4 If required use Astro Intumescent Acoustic Mastic to ensure a smoke and acoustic seal

Sizes

The cable port is designed for single or multiple cables up to a maximum of 10 cables depending upon cable diameter.

Compliance

Astro CB Cable Sleeve are manufactured in the EU, meeting the highest quality standard in compliance with ISO EN 9001:2000 . For fire test certification contact Astroflame Fireseals technical department.

Fire Tests

Tested to BS 476 for 2 hours

Storage and disposal

Astro CB Cable Basket Sleeve should be stored indoors. No shelf life is given as this product will not deteriorate in storage.
