Introduction
The purpose of this document is to give guidance to approved contractors and suppliers who are engaged in the vapour sealing of service penetrations in structures using the Astro LC Loft Cone
All service holes through Ceilings must be vapour sealed to prevent the passage of condensation
The ASTRO LC Loft Cone System
Downlighers in ceilings are widely used in commercial & residential
buildings. Each hole in the ceiling is a potential leakage point for condensation
and vapours.
To combat this the ASTRO LC Loft Cone has been developed to offer maximum protection for holes created by the introduction of a downlighter and to allow for maximum ease of fitting.
Suitable for downlights with cut-out
dimensions of 50 - 100mm.
Installation

| Step 1 Make a small hole or slit in the Loft Cone for the cable. |
Step 2 After placing cover over downlight, pass cable through Loft. Cover and seal up any holes or slits with silicone sealant |
Step 3 If insulation level will not completely cover or bury Loft Cone, the transformer can be located on the top of the cover, securing with a nylon cable tie

| Step 4 Seal around base of Loft Cone with silicone sealant to secure in place |
Step 5 If insulation will cover or bury the Loft Cone, the transformer must be mounted clear of insulation following transformer manufactuers recommendations |
Step 6 NB. The Loft Cone is approved for installation in contact with combustible surfaces, eg timber. The downlight must be min. 25mm away from joist. |
Fit the downlighter cover as per the manufacture's instructions - Remote gearboxes and transformers must be situated outside of the Loft Cone. Please note: No part of the fitting should touch the inside of the downlighter cover when the cover is centrally located above the cut hole.

Astro LC Loft Cones are manufactured in the EU, meeting the highest quality standard in compliance with ISO EN 9001:2000 . For test certification contact Astroflame Fireseals technical department.
Storage and disposal
Astro Loft Cone should be stored indoors. No shelf life is given as this product will not deteriorate in storage.
