Telescopic Letterboxes - Installation Guide
Introduction
The purpose of this document is to give guidance to approved contractors and suppliers who are engaged in the fire stopping of fire rated structures using the Astro Telescopic Letter Box System.
The Astro Telescopic Letter Box
The Astroflame telescopic letter box system range is specially designed to increase the safety, and comfort of occupants against Fire, Smoke and Noise.
The range includes models which are:
fire and smoke rated for 30 minutes
fire rated for 60 mins
fire rated for 60mins with additional smoke and acoustic rating.
Where relevant, particularly for multiple occupancy residential buildings, letterboxes have been fire and smoke-seal tested to BS 476 PART 22 for 30 or 60 minutes fire rating.
Our FAS Telescopic Letterbox (fire, smoke and acoustic rated) has an acoustic rating or Rw 29dB - as outlined in Approved Document E for door sets.
Tested to BS EN SO 140, Tested to BS EN 20140-10.
Telescopic Letterbox Installation
Tape
template provided to door face checking it is centred and level.
Mark out sleeve and fixing holes
Drill and saw or rout sleeve hole using a 25mm Max router/drill
Drill fixing holes 8mm Max
Assemble letterplate into position ensuring hexagonal fixing screw is on the inside of the door
Tighten hexagonal fixing screws using 2.5mm key
Compliance
Astro Telescopic Letter Box are manufactured in the EU, meeting the highest quality standard in compliance with ISO EN 9001:2000 . For fire test certification contact Astroflame Fireseals technical department.
Fire Tests
Certifire Approved- CF 255
Tested to BS 476 PART 22 for 30 or 60 minutes fire rating
Tested to BS EN ISO140 to 29db/Rw for acoustic rating
Storage and disposal
Astro Telescopic Letter Box should be stored indoors. No shelf life is given as this product will not deteriorate in storage.
